Boot Care
Boot Maintenance Guide
Taking care of your cowboy boots doesn’t just preserve their look—it adds years to their life. At Camino Real, we proudly carry the care products you need and love helping our customers learn how to protect their investment.
1. Clean
Wipe your boots with a leather cleaner after each wear. Dust and dirt can work into the folds of leather, causing abrasion and eventual cracking. Keeping them clean helps preserve texture and finish.
2. Dry
Let your boots air dry naturally before applying polish or conditioner. Never use direct heat, as it can damage the leather.
3. Polish
Use a polish made specifically for your type of leather. A good polish restores color and shine while protecting against scuffs and scratches.
4. Condition
Conditioning keeps leather soft, flexible, and full of life. Exotic leathers like python, alligator, and lizard dry out faster and require more frequent conditioning to prevent cracks.
5. Protect
Use boot socks or a boot storage box when not in use. Boot trees help maintain shape, and a suede/leather protectant spray helps shield against water and stains. A bootjack makes removal easy and prevents heel wear. And lastly—don’t drag your feet!
