Studio Notes: Anatomy of a Boot

Every pair we sell was hand-picked for a reason. Built in León, Mexico — the heart of bootmaking — these aren’t just products, they’re pieces of culture. We believe in good leather, timeless design, and choosing quality on purpose.

Structure & Form

  1. Beading: A stitched leather border that adds structure and contrast to the top profile.
  2. Scallop: Curved boot tops — built for bold shape and flexible fit.
  3. Pull Strap: Reinforced and lock-stitched to stay strong through years of wear.
  4. Lining: Soft glove-tanned interior bonded to the outer leather for lasting comfort.
  5. Front Quarter: The face of the shaft — where stitching meets leather and design meets craft.
  6. Back Quarter: Adds interior strength and rear structure where you need it most.
  7. Side Welt: Carefully finished seams, smoothed and trimmed for that final edge.
  8. Top Stitch: Multi-row embroidery — a visual signature of traditional Western design.
  9. Vamp Fitting Stitch: High-tensile thread joins vamp to shaft with precision.
  10. Vamp: Covers the top of the foot — often the thickest, most durable leather on the boot.
  11. Toe Box: Molded for shape and function — it protects and defines the fit.
  12. Counter: A hidden leather piece inside the heel that holds form over time.
  13. Goodyear Welt: A traditional welt construction that allows the boots to be resoled and outlast trends.
  14. Heel Cap: Durable rubber caps — added grip, longer life.
